If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.

Exams!

Most students in most schools around the world seem to dread exams. In the One! International schools this is snot the case. Most of our students love exam time and get excited for it at least a month before.

This year was no exception. Our teachers put extra care in making their exams and our students put extra care in writing them.

Akash from Step 4, Raja from Step 6 and Sunil from Step 7 were some of our top students, all with honours and many marks in the 90’s.

It is exciting to see the English skills of all of our students increasing at a faster rate and at younger ages.

New Gift Bags and Double Programs!

May 10th was a little momentous for One! as it was the first gift bag packing day that involved the families. Normally—to avoid chaos—our staff packs up the gifts for each child in a garbage bag: clothes, shoes, paper, pens, hair ties, balls, toys, sweets… This semester we decided to have a bit of a rummage sale—except without money. We drew the names of the families out of the hat as to what order they were allowed to ‘shop’ and one by one they went through the items for what they wanted to take. Each family had a certain number of items to take according to number of kids, attendance and other factors. We thought that the day would be even more chaotic than normal but were pleasantly surprised when everyone waited patiently and ‘shopped’ peacefully. Another symbol of change.

Starting at the beginning of May our Volunteers and Teachers started preparing songs, dances and plays for the children to perform for their parents.

On the 23rd of May, the staff and volunteers went up to Nallasopara to join the parents of the children in watching our students perform. For their second ever performance they were already like professionals!

The 24th of May was the Khar school summer program. As always the little children drew out smiles from the crowd and the older students dazzled everyone with their expanding talents. Two great days!

Sport’s Day Fun!

May 12th was a fantastically wonderful day. The children from both schools got together for their 4th Bi-Annual Sport’s Day.

For the first half of the day, the children from both schools were mixed together and competed for individual honours—longest throw, longest jump, fastest dash, potato sac race, marble and spoon race and much more. Oldest student Rakesh maintains his fastest dash record and little Suraj proved to be quite the athlete winning most of his events!

The second half of the day involved each school house competing for top honours and a movie day. Teacher Jayanti was proud that her house won for the third semester in a row!

It was great to see students, volunteers and Teachers all competing together through sportsmanship, love and a great community spirit!
