We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Special Donations!

The Yoga community in Alberta and British Columbia has been very generous to One! over the years.

One of the yoga instructors at Yoga For Today has come up with an unique way of raising money for the educational work in India.

Satwinder Sran holds a Sadhana class on the first Sunday of each month at 6AM. She requests attendees bring a financial donation for One! International. All money she receives is given to One!

Out of Town Trip

Our out of town trip was four months late, but definitely worth the wait. At least, that is what all of the lucky students who took part said.

We were supposed to go at the end of October, but it was just too expensive and just wasn’t working out so it kept getting postponed. February came and prices dropped and we jumped in! We traveled with 23 students, 3 volunteers, 7 staff and 2 staff children to Aurangabad—the hub city for trips to the historic caves of Ellora and Ajanta.

Since this was our second trip to the area, the Ajanta caves excursion by only the first timers while the rest studied, played soccer and other games and went for a long walk into the city. For both parties, the day was fantastic.

All partook in the second excursion which involved not only the Ellora caves but a climb up the ruins of Dallahabad—a fortress. Fantastic views and history!

As always, the children loved the sights, but will have the fondest memories of their friends, full stomachs, showers, beds, the bus ride and what we would call the ‘simple things’.

The students showed a remarkable sense of comraderie and were constantly taking care of each other. They took shifts cooking and cleaning but were fighting to do more. They were beautifully nurturing human beings and hopefully this side of them only grows!

Programs for Orphans

The family that was sponsoring Parvati stepped up in an emergency and have definitely provided the basics needed for Parvati to grow stronger.

Unfortunately they also took advantage of the situation and things needed to change once again. At the beginning of this month, Parvati and brother Malesh moved into the upstairs room at the Khar school. A scary proposition at the onset, bet so far so good. In fact, the landlord who readily agreed with having his new tenants has enjoyed having Malesh around. Malesh helps out around the building and really appreciates what he has been given.

This move spurred us on to start a new nutrition program for our orphan children. Deepak, an orphan himself, is the cook. He makes breakfast before school starts, cleans up before anyone arrives and makes dinner in the evenings. Deepak, Malesh, Parvati and our fourth orphan student, Ramesh, dine together and for the most part have created a little family together.

Just like any family they have their moments and squabble, but all in all the new program is working well.

We had great news at the end of March—PARVATI NO LONGER NEEDS OXYGEN! Parvati’s improving health has made Malesh’s job easier but she has become a little naughty, so he still has his hands full.
