Thank You’s & Opportunities

We are so blessed to have the support that we have! How would we survive without all of our continuing GCC members and the continued support from people like Francine Bauer (Switzerland) and Tracey Jackson(US)!

We would like to welcome our new GCC (Give-a-Child-a-Chance) members into the One! family: Debbie Gilchrist who is sponsoring Rajeshree, Sattie and Walter Rupnarain who are sponsoring Bhagyashree, and Rav and Shannon Rupnarain who are sponsoring Nitin. Now that whole family is sponsored! With this support and their mother’s new job as our school cleaner, hopefully they will have a good chance at a better future.

We would also like to thank Ailsa Bray for her valuable support and enthusiasm.

Alliance for Youth Achievement (the American organization which is also sponsoring our children for school) has also let us apply for two projects. The first project we submitted is for a sewing room for the girls to learn some practical skills and a trade. The second project is for us to purchase a rikshaw (mini taxi) that will be used for our own ease of transport, but mainly for the boys of One! to get training and also earn a little bit of money. We were excited to even be able to submit these opportunities and have our fingers crossed about the outcome!

Thank you to everyone who has supported One! over the past two years! Happy second birthday, One! International!!!

The dance that 6 of our children performed at the German School. They taught their dance and were taught a pirate dance by the school children. The children had a wonderful time dancing, but mostly playing on the toy scooters!
Radha’s Tuberculosis

In mid-January, we received some awful news. Radha had contracted tuberculosis in her brain, right behind her left eye. It had been left for too long before the family decided to take her to the hospital and she eventually fell unconscious.

As soon as we found out, we immediately rushed to the hospital to find our beautiful Radha in a terrible condition. She couldn’t see out of her left eye, and very little in the right eye, She was incredibly weak, not even able to sit-up, and in incredible pain.

After two weeks time, she is looking slightly better and the doctors released her to a 2 year medical regime. So far her family has been excellent about going DAILY to the local clinic (15 minute walk), getting an injection and taking the five other medicines prescribed. They have shown awesome love and want her to be healthy.

Radha is feeling better physically, but having a very difficult time coping mentally and emotionally.

Gerlinde’s GoodBye :(
and Jen’s Hello :)

We have to send out a HUGE THANK-YOU to Gerlinde. She is already back in Austria and missing us very, very much. She says that she thinks of One! and the children often, and it is no surprise after the mark she left here with us. She had a huge impact on the children and they grew immensely by her calm nature and loving disposition. Gerlinde was a tough name for the children to get their tongues around, but all of the children did it to show her the respect and love that they thought she deserved as thanks for everything she had given.

THANK YOU GERLINDE, We miss you!

Trying to fill in Gerlinde’s shoes is Jennifer Rowe of Canada. Though she has only been with us for three weeks at this point, she has been amazing already and we are sure she will prove to be a big success with the children.
