The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

School Reno’s

The new school renovations have postponed our application for the new classroom for our sewing project, and has meant that we have been once again teaching outside. Pallavi have felt a little ‘déjà vu’!

They are re-plastering the whole entire school as well as repainting and rebuilding the cupboards and some desks/chairs. They have started with our side of the school and the renovations are expected to be done at the end of June...meaning anytime before the end of September...who knows!

Unfortunate now, but excellent in the end...patience...

My MOM Came to Town!

Wow was I ever lucky to have mom (Marilyn Spilchen) in town for 5 weeks in February until the end of March. To my surprise though...everyone started stealing her! Other friends started calling her mom, and everyone wanted to meet her more than they usually meet me! She utterly stole the show.

And the kids...well… absolute and complete delight is just not strong enough to describe how happy they were when they finally met “TaniaDidi’s Mom”!!

They cherished the extra love and attention that she poured down on them in the short time that she was there. The bottom left picture is of the card that they made for her at her and volunteer Janine’s good-bye party. Mom had sponsored chicken biryani for the children and they ate it all up.

To the right are Laxmi, Santosh, and Kiran who were glad to finally meet “Grandma”. They glowed in her love.

It was very special for Mom to finally see my baby (One!), and for me to share it with her and have her take part!

The Family that Makes us Proud!

Lila, Chaman, and their four boys have been making decisions over the past year that have truly made us proud as an organization. Through them we can feel very proud of what we have accomplished in the last two years, and know that we are truly making a difference One! step and One! child at a time.

Chaman was the father that went out and found his own house, without relying on the help of Pallavi. Well they have stayed there for 6 MONTHS now, and are doing excellently. They even have a TV that is making the boys VERY happy!

With monsoon about to arrive, Lila and Chaman were very worried about the boys health during the rains with the house very leaky and not sturdy. To show support for the decisions they have made, and will to improve that they have shown, we have given $50 for the father to build a platform for the boys to sleep on away from the water. They didn’t care about themselves staying dry, only about the boys!
