Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

Baroda Plans
We are very anxious about our plans to send five children to a boarding school about 60 kilometers from Baroda in Gujarat State (about 8 hours by train and 2 hours by car from Mumbai).
The school is sponsored by Acrodex Inc., and so Acrodex has given our children the opportunity to study there. We chose the best five boys who were being given permission by their parents (Jayenti, Sanju, Bismilla, Roshan and Pappu), and have been busily trying to teach them English—enough to fit in to higher grade levels.
This is an incredible chance for the boys and we hope that they can adjust into the new environment fast and take advantage of what it has to give.

End of Year Results
|
|
We conducted our first annual End of Year Exams this year in the middle of April. It ended up to be quite a successful event. Not a single student disappointed and a few students displayed surprisingly fantastic performances.
SENIOR STUDENTS:
Jayenti stood up strong to his title as best student. He managed to get top honours in three out of four of his exams—Hindi, English, and Math. He only missed out in science by one mark; he forgot that the sun was a star.
Reshma pulled off a huge surprise by tying Bismilla for top honours in science—both only made one mistake out of 15.
Dilshaad tied Jayenti to win the English honours.

JUNIOR STUDENTS (2 GROUPS):
Upper: Dharam won in English which was no surprise. Surprising everyone, both Parkash and Mukesh tied for top marks in Math (they only made 3 mistakes out of 87). Dilshaad received top honours for this group in Science (she studies all but English in this group). Mukesh proved that he has been working very hard by attaining the top mark in Hindi.
Lower: Sonu surprised everyone with top honours in Hindi, but the biggest surprise of all was Nilesh who not only won first place in mathematics, but didn’t even make a single mistake,76/76. Sanju was no surprise in gaining top marks in both English and science for this group.
One! International doesn’t want to put pressure on its students and make exams a large part of its teaching, but at the same time realizes that a lot can be learned also. The children need to learn to operate in pressure situations, and so this won’t be a one time occurrence as we plan to implement testing twice a year.

Welcoming Vinita to One!
|
|
From the very generous donation of Child Hope India, Inc. of New York, we were able to hire a qualified social worker. After browsing many applications we settled on a young lady named Vinita Singh. She is initially from Northern India and moved to Mumbai in January as she is just newly married (December 2003) to a Mumbai born man.
Vinita has a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Social Work. Her skills have already proven to be a huge asset to us and I am sure will only continue to show as she fits in more and more with One!.
To learn more about Vinita, we did a little survey and here are some of the interesting things we found:
* BDay—1st Aug 1979
* Loves Rajma (Kidney beans in spicy sauce)
* Amitabh Bachhan is her favourite actor.
* Wants to travel to Switzerland and Kashmir.
* Hates liars.
* Dislikes Summer.
* Happiest moments are when she got married and when she got 1st rank in her 10th and 12th grade classes.
