Volunteer ‘Par Excellence’

In our March 2005 newsletter, we talked about LizDidi Overheu and how she ‘gave all she had day in and day out’ and ‘created more organization’. When she left after eight months with the children, she promised them that she would be back for Diwali and Rakesh’s wedding that year. Rakesh still hasn’t gotten married, but LizDidi held to her word and returned for more One!.

Liz arrived back in Mumbai in November 2005. We were all very thankful, but no one more than Tania. Liz gives the support that Tania needs and whenever she is around, the children and the organization just seems to go that one step further. Liz presents an incredible skill set and is 100% committed to the children. Liz is ‘Super Woman’ when it comes to organization—I have never met anyone better. She not only has lists of what needs to get done, but has lists of her lists. Don’t get me wrong, though, some people have lists but that doesn’t seem to help. Liz is the opposite, if Liz has something on a list, then you can almost think of it as already done. Tania is the type of person that doesn’t even

bother to make the list in the first place...so needless to say, they balance each other out VERY well. Tania had to return to Canada early this year for various reasons and to visit sponsors in New York and so it lifted a lot of stress knowing that One! and the children were being left in MORE than capable hands. Tania was more relaxed in Canada knowing that Liz was leading the show in India.

THANK YOU LIZ!

Board Planning Day

On January 6, 2006 the Board of Directors and officials met to discuss progress over the past five years and to “set the course for the immediate future”. We were lucky to have feedback from staff in India to aid in our discussions.

There was unanimous agreement that One! International is doing what it should be doing and being successful doing it. This is not to say that changes aren’t necessary but the vision of ‘One’ heart, helping ‘One’, working toward a ‘One’ world remains true to today.

We have plenty of new ideas and dreams that we hope to put into action in the months and years to come. Examples of which are: to begin work and teaching in a new location of Mumbai, and the incorporation of more active job preparation and job finding for our older children.

We want the input of our supporters as we review the past and plan for the future. A short questionnaire will be made available at our fundraiser and sent out with GCC update packages. Please let us know if you would like a copy of the questionnaire.

Please don’t be afraid to pass on your ideas or suggestions—positive or negative—as we are always striving to do the best we can and continue working in an efficient and positive atmosphere.. Please let us know your thoughts.                                                 MARILYN
