Donations
The Stollery Children’s Hospital donated toys and books and assorted items when they remodeled their play room. Items not suitable for transport to India were donated to Candora, an organization in N.E. Edmonton, serving an impoverished area. What they can’t use is donated to the Bissell Centre in the downtown Edmonton area. No donation goes to waste.

George joins Marilyn!!!
|
|
Tania’s dad George made his first trip to India in November 2006. Tania was thrilled to show her dad first-hand the incredible work that is being done in India. George was very impressed with the school and the children (not so with the population size and traffic woes).
He became ‘grandpa’ to the little ones and was often seen with one of the KinderKids on his lap. He helped the boys design an outdoor table, cupboards, and the ‘magic wardrobe’ for the Narnia play in the Annual Program
George even extended his trip and changed his flight so that he could see the Annual Program—and was very glad he did. When asked what his favourite part of the trip was—he quickly answered that it was the Annual Program. He has not ruled out a return trip!
Marilyn continues to be impressed with the scholastic progress made by the children and the work being done by the teachers. Vinita—our Social Worker—has developed an excellent working relationship with the students and the parents. She is being called upon frequently to help solve various problems. Marilyn helped to organize the family information and identified some areas for future work.

Vinod’s Quandary
|
|
Vinod is struggling to find his fit in the working world—the need to study to become more of a ‘professional’ teacher and to find his place.
At the beginning of December (only three weeks after getting married), Vinod started hinting that he wouldn’t be working for One! for much longer. We think that it was just a stunt to get his salary increased.
Sure enough, when he was confronted within only a week left before holidays he stated that he would only work until the end of the month.
He was shocked when no-one overreacted and everyone instead respected his decision. His plan foiled and he was too proud to change his mind.
|

|
Rather than choosing to work hard and ACHIEVE his higher salary, he tried to simply DEMAND it. If he has learned nothing else, he has definitely learned that this doesn’t work.
Vinod was very emotional on his last day. He couldn’t communicate his feelings, but everyone knew that there was quite a quandary going on in his head—a quandary over his new married life, a quandary over his own principles and personality, a quandary over his new troubles with earning a living.
Vinod has some tough life lessons over the next few months...and years. We have taught him the skills and tools he needs to succeed, let’s hope he now uses those tools and makes some positive choices.
Even if Vinod doesn’t return as an employee, he will always be part of One!
