Fundraisers
The middle of January 2007 was a very busy time in Sherwood Park.
We had THREE Fundraisers in the space of one week. Without the support of EVERYONE involved in these events-helping or attending, we would not be able to do as much for the children. |

Indian Status
Our registration in India has finally taken a step forward. After months and months of...waiting...and waiting...and waiting. Tracey Jackson of New York put us in touch with the very influential and resourceful Bunker Roy of Rajasthan who managed to call the right people and push the right buttons to make things happen! On March 1st 2007, we became a foreign Liaison Office in India working for the betterment of the lives of street children and their families! There are still a lot of legal procedures that need to be followed, but we are well on our way!! |
What Would We Do Without Volunteers?!?
It was very sad in February when we had to say good-bye to Sarah and Rachel Pennell of Edmonton. They spent three months with the children in Khar and though the experience may have been rocky along the way, there is no doubt that they gave all that they possibly could. Both these ladies have hearts overflowing with love and the children miss them so much. A day doesn’t pass where one or the other lady is not asked about! Shreena Dasani from England was the next to join us in the middle of February. Shreena surprised us all with her quick grasp of teaching and her amazing poise and maturity for her age. Though she only joined us for six weeks, Shreena achieved months of work! Alysha Lust rejoined us (she first volunteered in 2003) for three weeks. We were excited to see what she thought of how we had grown—she was very positive and thrived in the new environment. She revamped our health program, set the curriculum for our new health class, and spread love...and all in just three weeks!!! Taylor Templeton and Nick Taylor were with us for only two weeks and it was a shame. They both have lots of love to give and the children were instantly connected to both of them. |
