Holiday Volunteers
To help us prepare for the program we were lucky to have two volunteers: Curtis from Canada who arrived on October 1st and volunteers until January 31st; Krishna from England who arrived on November 14th and volunteers until the middle of February.
Curtis has been great with the children and seems to have found a second home with the children in Nallasopara. He is not only teaching but helping us build a computer database system.
Krishna is a natural as a teacher and instantly bonds with the children. She is also working on background files to help future volunteers adjust easier into teaching.

Annual Program Number 7 & One!!!
|
|
It is hard to think that seven years have already come and gone in the history of One! International.
Even more incredible is that more than half of the original children who performed at the First Annual Program were still there to perform at the 7th!!! Rakesh, Roshan, Kokila, Rajeshree, Jayenti, Ravi, Raju, being just some of the names that we have watched grow throughout all of One!’s history.
Seven years of history of One!, seven years of history in Khar...and the beginning of a new chapter in the history books for the Nallasopara school. It was quite a special event having both schools together performing—the veterans of the Khar school cheering on the ‘freshmen’ of the Nallasopara school. It was such a pleasure to see the new light in the Nallasopara parents eyes at seeing what their children could do. The pride.
Overall, the event had over 150 children, over 100 parents and many guests to round out the number to almost 300 performers, staff and other attendees!
A tad bit bigger than our first event that all told didn’t involve more than 50 people.
A few hiccups here and there but all in all a well-planned, smooth day that everyone should be proud of—parents, staff, volunteers and most of all, the kids themselves!!!

Salisbury Composite High School
Wake-A-Thon
In 2005, Emma James helped organize a Wake-A-Thon at Clover Bar Junior High School which raised over $6,000
Emma has organized a first-ever Wake-A-Thon for charity (One! International) at Salisbury Composite high school for Feb. 1-2, 2008. This is the same high school that Tania attended for three years.
“We’re looking at probably raising $2,200-$2,400,” James
said, noting that they have surpassed their original goal of raising $500.
“ ’Last time the money was used to help buy books for the school, to pay for a teacher and also used to pay for eyeglasses.’ James said, knowing that the money they raise this year would once again be put to a worthy cause.”
