SCHOOL NEWS

School attendance is regularly around 70 out of 80 children that are registered. We also have children under school age and over school age that we give medical attention to. We are now caring for over 120 children.
Due to mass confusion for anyone joinging the One! team over the names of the classes, it was finally decided to throw out the old and adopt a new system - phew!!! We have now renamed the KinderKids the PreSteps, and all the rest of the classes go from Step 1 through to Step 7 (the old names were C2, C1, B2, B1, A3, A2, A1).
To create more teamwork and positive reinforcement for good behaviour, we have adopted a 'Harry Potter'-like house system for our students. They were divided into four groups - one for each teacher - and the children themselves chose their house names.
The children worked very hard at memorizing our new School Anthem through the month of October. They gave the input for the words. It is as follows:

One! International Anthem
Thank you for
         The houses we live in,
         The food we eat,
         The clothes we wear,
         And the help we receive.
Thank you for
         The teachers who teach us,
         The volunteers who come,
         The sponsors who give,
         And all other helpers.
Thank you for
         The doctors and medicine,
         Our pencils and books,
         Our toys and games,
         And other fun activities.
Thank you for
         The praise and caring,
         Our families and happiness,
         And most of all,
         We thank you for...
LOVE!

The yearning within every child to be in school is a viscerally powerful instinct.
It's so interesting, and such a poignant commentary on the resolve of the international community, that we are unable to put every child into school when we are all of a mind that nothing is more important to a child's present and future. In fact, as others have observed, it's fundamental to a child's life or death.
